The
best way to keep from running out of oil is to set
your account up for automatic
delivery.
Beyond
that, an accurate fuel gauge, and a sense of timing
are your best tools for determining whether it’s
time for a fill.
Unfortunately,
some gauges wear out over time and become inaccurate.
If you know you’ve used oil, but your gauge
has not budged, give it a gentle tap. It may “unstick”
and give you a more accurate reading. If it still
does not move, and you are concerned that you are
low on oil, call us.
We can look at your account and determine if it is
time for a fill. (Regardless of the accuracy of your
gauge, a properly installed and maintained tank can
serve your heating system for decades.)
As
for timing… we have both computers and an expert dispatch team for this exact purpose! Our computer system uses many factors to accurately
predict when you are likely to need oil, and generates a delivery order at least one week before delivery is due. Each of these delivery orders is reviewed manually to ensure timely delivery. Only occasionally will a delivery date will be modified based on this manual review. (In general, deliveries are scheduled when our computers calculate that your tank is approximately 1/4 full.)
And while
you may, indeed, have an uncanny sense of when you
need oil, we still suggest that you turn that responsibility
over to us. Besides, if you run out of fuel because
we failed to properly schedule your delivery, we will credit your account $50.00.
The
one method that has definitely proven NOT to be an
accurate measurement of the amount of fuel in your
tank is… the “drum method.” No matter
how much oil you have in your tank, if you bang on
it, it will sound hollow and empty.
If you think you may be low on oil….. call us! We will be happy to review your account and assist you! If you are not yet a customer, we will help you estimate how much fuel you have in your tank, and schedule your next delivery.
We
do everything we can to ensure that you receive timely
oil deliveries. When storms are predicted, we will
generally make our deliveries ahead of schedule to ensure
our customers have plenty of fuel.
We
care about the safety of our employees as much we
care about the comfort of our customers. Although
we have been known to brave some pretty extreme weather
conditions to make an emergency delivery, we do
not endanger the lives of our drivers or the lives
of others by going out in dangerous driving conditions.
You can help us by keeping your driveway clear in the winter and ensuring that access to your tank's fill cap is unobstructed.
