It is great to see how far gasoline and heating oil prices have come down in recent weeks!  We understand what a relief this is, and we hope to see it continue, or at least stay this way!

Let's not forget what we learned while prices were at their peak -- conservation!  By keeping our consumption low, not only will we continue to save on our personal energy costs, we will help keep the market price of energy down as well.

Below are some of the tips we have found to be very effective:

• Turn down the thermostat several degrees . Each one-degree reduction in temperature yields 3% in energy savings.
  
• Close off rooms you don’t use, and close their heat vents.
  
• Fix air leaks, caulk, and consider extra insulation in the areas of your home that may need it. (This will benefit you in the summer also.)
  
• Use an efficient portable heater to warm the rooms where you spend the most time. (Please follow all safety instructions.) In some cases, spot heating may be cheaper than central heating.
  
• Enroll in our Custom Monthly Payment Plan (CMP) now, if you are not currently a participant. CMP allows you to pay your estimated annual fuel cost over several months.
